Genomics and human diversity

چکیده
The sequencing of the human genome (2003) has been followed by a number technical developments that allow detailed characterization (including complete sequencing) DNA thousands individuals. This provided an estimate genetic diversity: approx. 3 million base substitutions within our includes 3,000 bases. Although divergence between any two individuals is small, it responsible for much phenotypic diversity observed population, and current techniques make possible to measure distances whose analysed. When results from large sample persons are analysed sophisticated multi-dimensional representation, fairly distinct clusters appear in indicating groups more similar each other than groups. these defined analysis, without priori information on their origin, turns out they largely correspond so-called “ethnic” categories reflect ancestry (e.g. Europeans, Africans Asians). Every group internally quite diverse, but analysis markers does indeed differentiate them. “Race”, as commonly defined, very imperfect proxy groups, suggests high homogeneity group, implies assumptions about behaviour “character” have no scientific basis, heavily tainted past uses support oppression even genocide. Thus “ancestry” or “ancestry group” highly preferable term, especially now people mixed ancestry. These methods widely applied populations “ancient DNA” historical samples, made great strides understanding history species.

Comparative genomics of human stem cell factor (SCF)
Stem cell factor (SCF) is a critical protein with key roles in the cell such as hematopoiesis, gametogenesis and melanogenesis. In the present study a comparative analysis on nucleotide sequences of SCF was performed in Humanoids using bioinformatics tools including NCBI-BLAST, MEGA6, and JBrowse. Our analysis of nucleotide sequences to find closely evolved organisms with high similarity by NCB...
متن کاملThe Human Functional Genomics Project: Understanding Generation of Diversity
Generation of biologic diversity is a cornerstone of immunity, yet the tools to investigate the causal influence of genetic and environmental factors have been greatly limited. Studies from the Human Functional Genomics Project, presented in Cell and other Cell Press journals, integrate environmental and genetic factors with the direction and magnitude of immune responses to decipher inflammato...

In the last decade, genomics has come to play a central role in systematics and biodiversity research. In coming years, systematics and phylogenetics will come to play an increasingly important role in genomics. Here,...

A recent workshop held at the Arizona State University Center for Social Dynamics and Complexity gathered over 50 prominent researchers from around the globe to discuss the development of genomic resources for several ant species. Ants play crucial roles in many ecological niches and the sequencing of several ant genomes promises to elucidate topics ranging from the genetic basis for social com...
متن کاملCoping with genetic diversity: the contribution of pathogen and human genomics to modern vaccinology
Vaccine development faces major difficulties partly because of genetic variation in both infectious organisms and humans. This causes antigenic variation in infectious agents and a high interindividual variability in the human response to the vaccine. The exponential growth of genome sequence information has induced a shift from conventional culture-based to genome-based vaccinology, and allows...
